Get a regular CRT. I think the space saving benefits of an LCD are easily outweighed by the affordability and image quality of a CRT (granted, the LCD may be sharper, but...).
Today's CRT displays use less power, generate less radiation and are easier on the eyes (less glare). They are sharper than ever before too.Last edited by mmj; Jun 3, 2001 at 11:01.

It depends on how much desk space you have. If you have plenty, get the 19"--or maybe even two 17"s if you can afford them. If you're tight on space, then you should get the LCD.
It's also somewhat a matter of personal preference. If you really like LCDs' vivid images, and you're willing to pay for them, then you should get one. If you don't care all that much, then just get a CRT.
I hope, now that Apple is making LCDs only, that their prices will drop. We'll see. I have high hopes because whenever Apple adopted a "new" technology (like USB, 1gbps ethernet, and now LCD), its price dropped dramatically.

I'd love a flat screen monitor, but I couldn't go back to a small screen..........which is what I'd have to do because of the price of the things!!
My husband won a 21" monitor a couple of years ago, and I'm so used to it now, anything smaller would drive me nuts!Saz: Naturally Blonde, Naturally Dizzy!

There, being a LiteStepper, I'd rather link to http://www.litestep.net than to its .com pale counterpart...
VERT can you show us your desktop picture ? I'd like to see what kind of LiteStep theme you're using.

well... might as well post my desktop..
the weird background is 640*640, 800*600, and 1024*768 in size.. the rest is my screen color. it's great for testing how a site looks at different resolutions.. my screen size is 1152*864 it's all my monitor can handle.

I've got a STB card that supports 4 monitors -- picked it up at a computer fair about a year ago -- don't know why, I've only got one monitor
Why on earth would someone want four monitors? -- another waste of money!
Can someone tell me why the little voices in my head made me buy it?

Man forsteen...are you really in Japan?
I envy you. I have ALWAYS wanted to visit Japan, preferably for a duration. Something around two weeks would suffice. I even took a year of Japanese in High School because I thought my Dad was going to get stationed there.

You know, I never really dug Kirsten Dunst until recently. Now that I have been seeing her more and more she is growing on me. She's in a new movie called Crazy/Beautiful, she will be hosting the MTV Video Music Awards (or is it the MTV Movie Awards) and more.
She's pretty attractive after all.Adobe Certified Coldfusion MX 7 Developer

Yeah but's a .28 dotpitch monitor. For design work you really shouldn't go less that .26. Also be careful as some mfg will list the monitor as .24 but then it is only .24 vertical or horizontal and the other res is .28 or .29.

An LCD monitor's dot pitch will always be the screen size divided by the resolution. It won't 'blur' the high resolutions, it just indicates that the monitor can't do higher resolutions.
An lcd is always perfectly sharp to the pixel, so dot pitch is kind of not as relevant if you know the resolution and screen size - if you see what I mean.
A 1280x1024 LCD would be fantastic! At that price I'd be suspicious of the quality of the LCD display - in terms of colour, and anti-reflectiveness, and the viewing angle.
Creole's points are quite valid for CRT monitors. I have 0.26mm dot pitch.[mmj] My magic jigsaw

If anybody hasn't noticed yet, I have used MAC icons. I use Office 2000 pro and I liked the icons better than the MS ones.

You lost me Creole.
The icons, I can't remember if this is the right name for them or not, are MAC 'Icons'. Well about four of them are. My Computer, Network Neighborhood, Internet Explorer, Recycle Bin, and some other ones that are not on it are. It's my protest in a way, whenever my system crashes.Forsteen

"Nicer" 18" LCD's; lowest price as of now is $2088 US.
I'm sure it would be cheaper if they dropped those silly speakers / USB hub thing they ship with it.
