    Time spent on Avatar

After creating my latest avatar (at left), I was wondering how much time you spent creating your own avatar. For me on this one I spent about half an hour removing the background from every frame and then sizing it down and aligning it.

I like that Wes, it's surprising that it only took that long, It would have taken me longer.

I'm not sure how long mine took. It's basically a reduced size version of my new company logo (not yet on my site though). The background is a stylized silver (white) sun over a light blue sky that I designed about a year ago as my original logo (a steel sun), and since then I've adopted a da vinci / michaelangelo styling to my corporate works, so I added a 2 dimensional filled image of da vinci's "vitruvian man" over the sun.

As an estimate, I would say it took about 2-3 hours total, probably more if you account for all the versions I've tried and thrown away.

Mine only took 5 minutes or so, too. Just take a picture with my webcam, resize it, upload it, and I'm done. I want to make a cool one sometime soon. Great work, Wes!

From time to time I spend a half an hour or so improving my avatar. You may not notice the changes.

Luzer's one reminds me of that commercial for a credit card where that artist ran out of art supplies and was explaining the meaning of a canvas with nothing on it.

Your avatar doesn't look very empty to me... Shouldn't it be all white or all black (since neither is a color)?

Mine took about 5 minutes to resize, cut out and upload.

Took me a while, but i'm a bit particular about graphics :O) This is about the 5th avatar i've made for SP. The current one is a mod of my last, freakysid missed th chocobo that used to make appearences in my av's so I painted it on my T-Shirt

It usually takes the time to think of the concept, actually producing it is not too much hassle if you are reasonable with a graphics package.

Before I didn't have one at all. So it was nothingness.

It's a shrunk down version of a flyer my friend made for a show. It's a picture of a bum with some writing on it.

About 5 minutes...I had to create a page with a 50x50 broken image that had an alt tag of "Avatar Not Found". I took a screenshot in PSP 3, and cropped out the broken image. Cool, huh?

You still use PSP 3? Whoa! Get a newer version, it's up to version 7 now and it rocks!

LOL! I do have PSP 7, but I've had PSP 3 for a couple years now, and I use it for more simple tasks because I know how to use it better. For the more advanced stuff, I use 7, but most of the time, I go back and forth with the same image doing things in PSP 3 I don't know how to do in 7, and doing things in 7 that aren't possible in 3. Makes sense?
