Question How do I record sources of Mouse CLicks on a web page?

How would I store references mouseclicks on a web page in a session?
Im particularly looking at how to capture a source refeence (i.e home hyperlink or home.gif), from a mouse click to track it. In other words, If you were on a web site and clicked a button or a graphic - to simply just track that the source(i.e the name of the picture for example) and save it in my session. Just want to know if its actually possible to write a peice of code , include it in my current web site (with the include command) and capture onclick events sources in general? Any ideas
