CSS border style for select box

I'm having problems making the border of a select box flat in Mozila/Firefox. I have a hack that works for IE, but <select style="border: 1px solid black;" is not working in FF. Any ideas?

If anyone is interested, the hack for IE I'm using is to wrap it in a span tag.

    <span style="border: 1px solid #000000; width: 50px;"><select name="numbers" size="1" style="margin: -3px -3px -3px -3px;">
    <option value="" selected></OPTION>
    <OPTION value=''></OPTION>
    <OPTION value='1'>1</OPTION>
    <OPTION value='2'>2</OPTION>
    </select></span>

As far as I know, you can not style the selectbox

I'm sure it's possible, but involves multiple hacks and conditional statements. Mozilla should be the easier of the browsers to accomplish it, but I can't think of how. Anyone know?

Don't forget your usability my friend. People will have a hard time understanding your form if they see new kind of stuff.

Make it as easy as possible for your users, you both will end up more happier
