    Bookmarks for Web-designers

    Hi,

    this is my first post...

recently I started to put together a list of useful web-design & web-programming tools. The idea was simple: I wanted to list on a one single page the most useful web-sites, which make the life of web-designers easier. If you ask the old uncle Google where you can find useful web-design-tools he shows an infinite list, whereby "his" links aren't actually that useful. At the same time really helpful links aren't shown at all...

In a nutshell, here I'd like to post the current list of useful web-design tools, which was created with the help of many web-designers and enthusiasts from Germany. Of course, I'll appreciate every link coming from the side of the SitePoint community. Thanks for your help!

PS: I've been searching for a similar topic which has already been opened, but I haven't found one...

Web Color Visualizer makes it easier than ever to select the color of the font and the background color.
This or this generator of color schemes and palettes helps to create good-looking and well balanced and harmonic web pages.
color synthAxis is a free online tool designed to simplify the nightmare of color scheme selection. It looks complex, but after a few minutes you won't be able to live without it.
Advanced Color Selector is a color selection tool that allows you to change both the colors and font characteristics and preview them before using.
Color Mixer creates mixed swatches of background color for your pages. It will even create the GIF image for you.
Identifont - Identify a font. Answer a series of questions about the letter shapes to help narrow down the choices. Sometimes it works well, sometimes not as well. But definitely worth trying when you have a fairly good sample of characters to work with. (en)

Thank you very much for your interest! If you regard my list as useful - please feel free to post similar posts (please - with link to my homepage) in other forums, so the list can be used not only by some single communities, but by web-designers in its common sense. Besides, I would really appreciate new links coming from the side of SitePoint community.

Recently I've updated the list, but it takes really too much time to convert all the links to the form which is usual for such a forum like SitePoint. Therefore I guess it would be quite reasonable to post the list on my personal homepage and actualize it - let's say - once a week. If the community has different opinion - please let me know.

    With best regards, Vitaly Friedman

Thanks! The list is updated at least once a week.

Hm... Just a small question concerning the list: should all the links be available on one single page or should I rather split them into some kind of a directory, or faq? What do you mean?

    Exclamation Update: important information!

    Important information!

I'd like to inform you about the changes related to the project "Essential bookmarks for web-designers and web-developers". Few hours ago I've uploaded a new version which is available on http://www.alvit.de/web-dev.

"Web-Dev-Bookmarks" was weekly updated, new links were added; consequently, the visitors started to lose track on a huge number of links; the page has become packed with numerous references which have made the navigation and the use of bookmarks more complex.

Therefore I've decided to give "the project" a new url, a new design and a new hierarchical structure. The old version (which also will be updated in future) is still available on the page "Bookmarks: Maxi edition". You are welcome to submit your own links to the directory, filling out this form.

    Please update your bookmarks!

If you regard "Web-Dev-Bookmarks" as useful for you or for your visitors, I'd be glad if you had mentioned it on your page. Besides, I'd be glad to receive comments, feedbacks and new links coming from your side, or from your visitors.

Thank you very much for your support!

Why don't you use RSS? I'd like to subscribe to your XML feeds, but I haven't found any on your site! What's with the subscription - you haven't forgotten about it, have you?

Many e-mails, many questions, one answer: RSS feeds are now available. As promised, it will be updated once a week, informing the subscribers about the news of Web-Dev-Bookmarks and new links.
