Unhappy IIS Not Starting Up When I Installed Oracle 9i!!!

    hi,

I dont have an Idea why this is happening..I am working on Windows Xp..Recently I installed Oracle 9i..after installing it my IIS is not working at al..when I try to access the server I am getting a 404 error...
    Code:
    Not Found
The requested URL /cms was not found on this server.

Oracle HTTP Server Powered by Apache/1.3.12 Server at localhost Port 80
Also the default website link in the IIS is shown as Stopped.. When I manually try to start it..it gives me this error..
    Code:
    Unexpected error 0x8ffe2740 occured.
Anyun having any idea what the hell is happening here..

..Now when I am typing http://localhost in the address bar it is opening a page with following contents...

    Oracle HTTP Server
    Components

    # Apache
    # JServ

    # (demo) Oracle JSP

    # (demos) mod_ssl
    # OpenSSL
    # mod_perl
    # mod_plsql
    # BC4J
    # XDK
    # Mod_OSE Docs

Is it really the apache server has been istalled???

    hi Rokc,
i guess what happened is that after installing oracle. It changed your default webserver to apache. Which is what oracle comes with by default.

go to start >> RUN >> type mmc
and in your snap in add IIS and see if its still running. It shoudl be in the background.

By the way instead of running localhost, configure your IIS and apache webserver with default names e.g. http://rokc/ instead of http://localhost/

I cant remember the last time i touched apache, so i cant advice you on that. Check your Admin tools or Cpanel

You could start the IIS service again and configure it to work as you would so desire. Simply right click and choose "start"

    Its \oracle\ora90\Apache\Apache\htdocs

You cant serve ASP and .NET files in apache, unless you have the www.chillisoft.com software installed, and even then the results arent the same with IIS Webserver.

With .NET You need IIS 6.0

I would advice you restart your IIS and run your files there. I cant remember much about apache webserver, but you configure IIS with your MMC snap in tool as i described above

    NOTE:

I would advice you choose what platform you wish to run your oracle webserver either
    1. Apache default is jsp
    2. IIS you could use .net which works well with oracle.

    or simply whatever you want.

If you choose ASP or .NET which i am assuming is what you are proficient in then run IIS. Configure your IIS and set your web root through the IIS snap in and put all your files there
