    How to send Email Newsletters

    Hello All,

I am new to this website stuff and this is probably so obvious but could someone help.

I have designed an email newsletters which i am testing and trying to send. I have no problem with the design, but how do i send the newsletter so it displays. I can only send as an attachment as present, what i am doing wrong?

I am trying to send it via outlook.

I know it is probably simple, but im new to this.

    Thanks

    Dazzmondo

If you are sending a newsletter I recommend you do not send it using Outlook. If you send a lot it could very well be caught by spam filters because it may be a huge batch of emails.

If you must, just be sure to send messahe as HTML in outlook. You can also open it isn MS Word as HTML and send right from there.

    Thanks

I have tried that but all that displays is the code. What am I doing wrong? I have selected html format, what is the next stage. Do I copy the code across?

I am sorry, I am very new to this. I wont be sending very many to start with so hopefully it spam filters wont be a problem for a while.

no, you can't copy the code into the email. Try to open the HTML in WORD and send it straight from there.

If you want to send email using a webinterface, where you can schedule emails, personalize them automaticly, auto respond etc, try using

    http://www.listmailpro.com

It serves me well. Works like a charm and is very very easy to setup.

ok.. upload all your pictures to your web server, create the html newsletter with the links going to those images e.g. <img src=" http://yoursite.com/email/images/top.gif" />

Add the email as "stationary" inside outlook or your email program.
What happens is the graphics are loaded from the webserver so they don't show up as a jumble of attachments at the bottom of the page.

Allways include a copy of the email on your server and a link on the top of the page "if you can't see this click here" = off to website. This helps as some users will have text only email.

    Cool

You can use phplist and save you some headaches.

Send HTML and TEXT newsletters (multipart) without any trouble, manage your users subscriptions, etc ...

I sometimes use the OSCommerce (and a contribution) to send newsletter.
