    Spam mailto

    I browsed the previous threads and cannot find a recent post addresssing spammers retrieving "mailto" links and a good way to avoid this. Anyone have a solution that they would like to share that would work to hide multiple email addresses? Thanks in advance.
    why must i lay low in a room full of strangers?

    Try http://www.safeemail.org/

    There you can convert your email addresses to ascii text. The browsers will display the regular words but the spam bots will see just a very long serie of numbers and characters. Sweet.

    I've been using this:

    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="javascript" TYPE="text/javascript">
    <!--

    user = "EmailNameHere";
    site = "YourSite.com";

    document.write('<a href=\"mailto:' + user + '@' + site + '\">');
    document.write(user + '@' + site + '</a>');

    // End -->
    </SCRIPT>

    I was getting about 200 spam emails a day, so changed my email for my site and used the above code to write the email into my site.

    Spam-free for 6 months now!

    Hope this helps,

    SP

    Hey:

    Thanks for this code as well. I saved a copy as I can see it coming in handy down the pike.
