    HELP Chmod'ed

    What is Chmod'ed the "categories" directory to 777 MEAN???

    What do I need to do?

    Well if you are using Cpanel, go to the File Manager and click on the file. Then you need to click on "Change Permissions" and check all the boxes and save it. On most FTP programs you can click on the file and there will either be a button or you can right click and go to properties and check all the boxes, or there will be a tool to change the permissions or CHMOD the file.

    It means you need to setup directory permissions to GLOBAL read write and executable. It means any user on server will be able to read/write and execute codes on this directory. This is generally safe but you should caution having such file permissions on server because any other user on server will be able to get access to your site. If this is required by any script or something then I think you have no choice but keep caution. Generally apache works as user nobody on server and this is required by many php scripts.
