    parent window of an i-frame

in an i-frame, why doesn't parent.document.getElementById('field') work? i also tried window.parent, top, window.top, and top.document. any suggestions, or is this impossible?

http://slapdot.com/ref/signup.php - the page i'm trying to get this to work (the i-frame is planned to have style="display:none" when it works)

instead of an i-frame, i use a window.open() on the submit form and for the child i use window.opener to refer back to objects on the form page. only problem is that i cant use window.opener.getElementById.

    window.opener.formname.formfield.style nor does window.opener.getElementById('formfield').style work.

Don't have time to try it, but I think your syntax should be: opener.document.getElementById()
