Are you sure about this? There isn't anything in the forum FAQ about reputation that says this. Could that be a rule that's listed somewhere else in the forum?

As far as I know you can give rep immediately after signing up, but it won't be worth much of anything since you're so new and have no posts and little rep yourself.

Yeah, agree. I always found it weird to have a dual system in some respects- there's the "offical" FAQ in vB, but then there are also threads strewn all about SitePoint that deal with rep, etc. It would be nice to have those threads associated with each FAQ question.

I finally voted. I'm sick of not being able to give rep- I think I was denied in like the last 4/5 attempts. :\
