    Full window mode is evil. You don't need it.

    I completely agree with Anarchos! But here is the code if you wish to use it (I assume you aren't annoying your visitors).

    Got this from javascripts.com I think:

    function full_screen(theURL) {
    window.open(theURL, '', 'fullscreen=yes, scrollbars=auto');
    }

    Actually no. No one uses full screen mode because it's annoying and wasteful of my personal screen space that I have a right to control. You, as a designer, should not be messing with the size of my window, because I set it to the size I want your webpage to be at. I'd really like to see your "numerous" sites.

    And what's this bs about it helping with "lower CPU power computers"? An athlon 700 processor with motherboard is $100. A 200mhz will render most stuff fine, and the average computer speed, depending on your demographics, is probably somewhere in the 500mhz range.

    He, he...

    Ok - you're right about controlling your "personal space".
    Some people like the full window some don't.
    Actually, the friend asked me to set the site which is done in Flash to present in full window mode; eventually I made a choice on this web site to open it in 800x600 or full mode...

    I wonder, is this really annoying for majority of web users? Are there any statistics on it? Maybe we should do the poll then?

    Best Regards,

    I came across such a site before.
    Once the full screen script was launched, I left the site almost instantly.
    It bugs me.

    I agree that lately it seems like numerous sites are using full screen mode. I also agree that it's evil. If not evil at least a big imposition. I don't stay long on sites that use it. Of course, I rarely hang around sites that use much Flash, either, unless I really have to.

    It would annoy me - in fact I'd close the window and never visit the site again. I know I'm not alone - why risk losing your audience?
