I'm just converting over to ssi with .shtml extensions and I'm curious on what the trick is to get get a file with an .shtml extension to work like an index.html does (aka index.shtml), so that when the web address is typed in, it would instantly open the .shtml file like it normally would an index.html file. The server is linux based and I'm not interested in meta refresh index.html, Suggestions, hints?

It shoudl point to index.shtml if it doesnt try default.shtml. If none of them work then contact your host its not really a major change.
