Need to know if I'm in the right place

    Hi All!

I've been watching the forums for a while, and I love the logo and template bidding!

I need to do the same kind of thing... But maybe take it a step further.

I'm in the middle of a real estate business that's doing pretty well, and I'm ready to start a genuine "image". I need help with a good name, slogan, logo, web template, associated fonts, etc. Stuff that'll look good on a business card or plastered up the side of a cargo van or billboard.

I don't need blue-chip quality marketing... But I want to be a noticeable step above the guys with clip-art logos.

Am I in the right place to be doing this? If so, do I setup a different "challenge" for each task, or all together? And if so, do I tie them together?

    If not here, where?

    Thanks!

    Hi,
Are you looking to hire your design out, or are you hoping for free help?
    Thanks,
    Laura

    Oh, I'll hire!

I can't go broke doing it, so anything in the thousands is out of the question... But I don't expect freebies!

In my opinion, you'd be better off going towards creating seperate threads.
I find that some people like you said, are better at one thing than they are at anorther.

    For example, me.
I can create average templates, but can't create a logo to save my life.

Lol, just my opinion anyways .

OK points taken. In light of your advice, I'll probably go with the seperate threads option. Now the question is... How to split this up? Right away I'll need:

    Company name
    Company slogan
    Logo
    Business cards
    Letterhead

Should I put the name/slogan together, or leave them seperate? Also, should I do a "public" contest for that? I would prefer that, but I don't know if it's appropriate for a "name/slogan" project...

Making separate threads? Bad idea! Having different people do a piece of your brand? Even worse. That is, if you're at all serious about your new identity.

I suggest you post in the "Looking to Hire" section, and then go through all proposals and pick the best designer for your job. Better yet, do a lot of research on your local design studios, and check the portfolio to see what kind of work they have done in the past. You could also just look around past competitions and contact a designer whose logos you like.

I stress that you pick and use only one designer for the entire project.

And for christs sake, lakehousemedia, this is not the forum for self-promotion.

    Hi,
If you want to post a request for bids on a project, that should go in the Marketplace. Also, in case anyone's confused, or just doesn't realize, this thread was posted in the General Chat, and we don't allow people to solicit in here. Discussion only.
    Thanks

I agree with mstwntd. If you are serious about your marketing and want everything to be cohesive you should hire one individual/firm to do it all. At least to plan it out for you.

Time would be another issue. It would eat up quite a bit of time posting for each project, choosing someone, approvals, etc.

Another thing I forgot to mention... While some of contest entries here are very good, I doubt many of the entrants spend the time recommended on a logo (8 hours) and do enough research on your company and the industry you're in, for a very good reason - the low amount of $$ competition holders are willing to pay. I, for one, don't.

Well, now I'm running into another problem... I can't post in the "Need work" forum, because I don't have the minimum number of posts.

Further, my post count is "1", and I clearly have more than that.

Since I can't do it here, is there another site that you recommend that would allow me to hire someone?

I doubt many of the entrants spend the time recommended on a logo
So what are you saying? People should pay more money? Or that we should go somewhere that people spend time on a project?

General Chat posts don't count towards your post count. Post in a few other places first.
