    Extracting Audio from Video

I have a video file with an excellent soundtrack. It's in quicktime .mov format. What I want to do is get the audio from this and save it as a seperate mp3 or wma. Anyone know how to do this?

P.S. I don't want to have to go and buy any programs.

The best way is to use an external audio program, and if need be just start your audio player recording and then play the QT movie. That should get you the audio file.

You don't need to buy anything, as Audacity is a great open source program.

You can do it using a program you probably already have installed. With Windows Movie Maker (start -> programs -> acessories -> entertainment) you can import the .mov file. After importing, it should create one movie clip that you'll put in your storyboard. You can change the volume in there, so do some tests before saving it.

The next step is to save the audio only, so go File -> Save -> Audio Only, choose the quality you want and voilá, its done.

There a program like AVI mux. It will just unlink the audio from the video. It is quick, effecient, and teh only sane way to do it.
