I am in search of a quality, free autoresponder. Having to cut and paste e-mail templates to people requesting information on my site is becoming tedius.

But, here's the twist. I use BigMailBox to handle all my mail. While my host offers free autoresponders, I can't use them because my mail servers are directed to BigMailBox, which don't offer them. So, I figured I could setup an account on BigMailBox and have it forward to say, a Hotmail account that activates an autoresponder. I believe this will work. Will it? Now, I need a good, quality autoresponder. One I found is: http://www.getresponse.com/orderfree.html?10000 , but I want to know if you know better ones or had bad experiences with this one. Thanks in advance.

I'm using GetResponse with no problems - but I've only used it two or three times so far (apart from testing). I've seen it used a lot by others though.

Another I'm using is Otto at the NewbieClub http://www.newbieclub.com/ - again I've only used it two or three times, but had no problems.

One that's just launched is http://www.InformationByEmail.com/features.htm
    - I've no experience of using it.

Another that I've seen used a lot is sendfree.com - again I've no experience apart from requesting articles from others who are using it, and I've always recieved them with no problems.

How does GetResponse work? Does it put a big, long advertisement in the forwarded e-mails? I want to avoid such things as they make my organization look unprofessional.

I've sent a sample of my test e-mail from GetResponse - I don't know how the SitePoint mail form will affect the formatting, but there's an ad at the top and bottom.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for submitting it. I received it today and saw the ad (unfortunately). That was what I wasn't looking for, trying to avoid, so I guess I'm out of luck.

I think all the free autoresponder services have ads - I know that the top ad in GetResponse atoresponder is from people who've upgraded to the paid service (you get no ads on your own autoresponder, and get your ads on the autoresponders of the free option users).

Autobots http://autobots.net/ have a free service with no ads. I haven't used them at all, so can't comment on their service. I saw them listed at Web-source.com, where they get a rating of 10 on one of those *rate-it* links - the rankings go from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, but I've never taken much notice of those myself!
