I used an HTML 3.2 Validator at http://www.anybrowser.com/validateit.html and it provided this info

30: //--> --- markup embedded in a comment can confuse some browsers.

    44: <b><font face="Brush Script" color="#9E1D9B" class="smalltitle">Watercolor
--- attribute `CLASS' for <font> is extended markup (use "-x <extension>" to allow this).

Can someone advise me on what this "-x <extension>" means. My css was created by dreamweaver and I have not run accross a problem with the class being not executed correctly. Similarily the comment tags were inserted by DW before and after the javascript code. Should these tags really be removed or are these there for a reason.

hmm....have you ran it through the validator at w3c?
I'm not familiar with this validator. oh yes, why validate for html 3 when you can validate html 4.01?

Yes, especially if you are using CSS. Also, try using HTMLtidy before you put your code through the validator.

just a note: if you're using html-kit, htmltidy is included too. (as a plugin)

I would say that line 44 means that that piece of code is mainly used in xml or xhtml thus the thought to use xhtml as the extention. This is only a guess.

    Hope this helps
