    Running a Permanent IRC Channel

    Hi there,

I was wondering, How does one run a permanent IRC channel? We currently use irc.rizon.org with the channel name #siktactix(our car club channel).

So was wondering, How do you make it permanent?

If the network provides Network Services (ask a network oper), you can 'register' your channel so nobody else can take it and will make you an operator when you join the channel.

If the network doesnt have any services you can get eggdrop accounts, basically an irc 'bot' to sit on the channel as an operator, with you as 'owner' and makes you op when you join/request it. You can buy these eggdrop/shell accounts from special hosts, not very expensive. its just a shell account to run the eggdrop process on a permenant internet connection..
