    Cheapest Cell Phone Service?

What's the cheapest cell phone service? I'm just looking for a phone I can keep in my car for convenience (not social yacking). Right now I have a Sprint plan for about $35/month. Virgin has plans where you can buy cards (cheapest is $20) which are good for three months. Cheapest Virgin phone is $50 (+ free CD at Best Buy).

I have a land line too, but am seriously considering switching to Vonage.

Well I work for T-Mobile...and at my store here in Kentucky (different regions have different prices) For a "To Go" phone ours starts out at 50 bucks for a free Nokia 6010 phone and 125 minutes to start out with. Those minutes last for 60 days, then you would need to refill your minutes buying a new refill card, but if you buy a new refill card before your mintues expire then all the minutes carry over to the new experation date (another 90 days).

For monthly we have the best deal right now I think too...45.99 a month for 1000 whenever minutes and free nights and weekends.

Sprint has an unadvertised emergency service for $15/month. Can't remember how many minutes.

Probably 60 minutes if I remember correctly. My mother-in-law used to have a plan similar to that before she retired.

I am currently using T-Mobile, although I have a 1 year contract with them for 600 minutes a month. You should see what they have to offer, their service is great, same with Verizon. Good luck finding what you need.

What is this?!?! Is it available in the US?
my 2.5G wireless phone can give me internet access on a shoestring (with free evenings and weekends) but neither of those has that always-on quality.

i hate cell phones. you get a 40 a month plan, your bill always comes to over 45 with tax and fees. cell phones are money pits..had my phone over 2 yrs, and the crappy motorola t720 is like on its last leg...they don't design these things to last much longer than 2 years. It's frustrating, but I need the phone, oh well. I at least wish I could be paying for broadband instead of a cell phone. I always told myself I'd get that b4 I had gotten a phone. that was 2 years ago....still 56 k dialup
