Setting up a forum - looking for sample db

I have an existing application that I need to setup a forum type system. Now this isn't going to be a major deal, simply a way for 6 or so people to discuss changes planned on our site. In other words, simple is fine and I am going to most likely program it.

I was wondering if someone has any example databases where I can just examine the structure of how threads are stored. My 1 question has to do with how I mark the 1st thread in a forum ( would I just search for the oldest post ? )

Also, just simply how a forum is organized. I am not talking about vB or phpBB style .. nothing fancy, I am just looking for the most basic functional design I can follow.

Why not download phpbb, examine it's structure, take out what you don't want and start from there? I'm not sure I see why an open source setup doesn't work for you though.

I was looking for an access setup so that I dont have to install MySQL just to check it out. The last time I installed it on my laptop, things went to a crawl, even after I set the service not to start automatically.

Also I an not interested in phpBB here because its just way more complex than this needs to be. Its an internal forum dicussion and the users table is set. All I really need is just to find a table where posts are actually stored.
