I've set-up a small links database on my site, which I will be opening soon, what I would like to add to this is a ranking system where my members can rank the site out of 5 or 10.

What I'm interested in is how I can do this? I have access to PHP and a MySQL database.

    Thank you

I wrote a links database system in PHP a while back which includes ratings - you can check it out here:

    www.sslinks.co.uk

The source code is freely available. The rankings bit was achieved by storing two values in the database for each link - the number of votes the link had had, and the total of all of the votes added together. To get the user ranking for each link just divide the total rating by the number of votes. Every time a user votes for a link a cookie is set on their machine specifying that they have voted for the link with that ID. Their rating (from one to ten) is added to the total for that link and the number of votes is incremented by one.

I just started playing around with inlink. Find it at http://www.intechnic.com/inlink/ , it's a php/mySQL directory with user rating capability, editable templates, etc. Also, from admin you when you add a site you can boost the rating, hits, etc. Seems decent so far.

Since this is the first php/mySQL thing I've messed I have nothing to compare it to, but I did do alot of reading on the forums and haven't come up with something better.

If you find something quick, easy, customizable, let us all know!
