Is there a way to disable all those annoying tool tip balloons that popup from the system tray in Windows xp? I start up my computer and have to dismiss a slew of them - "there are unused icons", "an update was installed", "a connection was established", "would you like to play a game of chess, dave?". Grrr...
Download something not to get annoyed? I wouldn't do it.
Here are some things you may try. Go to IE>tools>internet options>general..
There might be many other things you may want to change (f.e. autocomplete, security..). Also right click on these icons, or blank area may let you change some settings.
The page I linked to gives instructions on how to disable balloon tooltips using the registry editor. The software that they allow people to download is only for convenience. Here's the information related to the registry key which needs to be changed...Download something not to get annoyed? I wouldn't do it.
