What happened to my Firefox bookmarks?

Has anyone had the problem of the mysterious disappearing bookmarks with Mozilla Firefox? It had happened to me twice how and there just seems no explanation. Anyone??

This happened to me the other day. Fortunately, I was able to re-import most everything from IE.

If it continues to happen, my opinion of FireFox may change...

Sounds like something happened to the bookmarks.html file that resides in your profile directory. Just make sure to back it up on a semi-regular basis.

I, personally, synchronize my bookmarks between FireFox and IE and MSN on a regular basis. This gives me three storage locations and in the case of MSN they are stored on the server so they are always available and I am less likely to loose all copies due to catastrophic hardware failure.

This is a known bug in Firefox. It has remained unfixed for at least a year. I wouldn't count on this bug being fixed anytime soon either. You should think about changing browsers and/or taking a more proactive approach to backups.

Cheers guys, I'll have this in mind from now on. Firefox is a great browser but it doesn't half let itself down.
