CMS, forum or what: surfing site

    Hey,

I'm currently experimenting with Mambo on my surfing site, SurfTurf.net (click here for the mambo site). In the end, I'm going to have surfing screensavers, buddy icons, surfing weather, forums and surfing news. Should I go with Mambo or a phpBB-based CMS (or something else), and which one?

    Thanks.

I've been using Mambo now for over a year and am very p[leased with it. But you cant compare mambo and phpBB, mambo is a CMS phpBB is a community CMS.

If your interested mainly in the users go with summit like phpBB, if your more interested in the content that you will be publishing go with a standard CMS like mambo.

One of the things that mambo lacks is custom user groups, it's been promised for version 5, but wen that'll be no one knows

    Hope this helps...

Just had a thought, you mite wanna check out ez-publish, although I've never got round to it, from what I can gather it should be extremely versatile, just very hard to setup, lol.

I'd personally suggest phpBB CMS - I never used it, but it's always good to have an all in one site/community to engage your users in activities.

    Cheers

Why not use both as you can easily integrate phpbb into Mambo.

You may also want to look into a VBulletin portal or an Invision Power Board one. I hope all goes well!

    Cheers
