    ICS problems with network

hey, i am trying to create a network between 2 computers, using a cross-over cable to communicate.

now pretty much everything works fine --- ie. both computers can remote desktop to eachother and the client computer can ping websites and get's good response for example ping google and the client computer will get an average of 60 ms ... however when i type the address in IE it just loads and loads and eventually times out.

    Host Computer

my host computer has local area connection and local area connection 2.

the LAN 2 is the internet in which is shared

the LAN has the TCP/IP settings of ...

    ip address: 192.168.0.1
    submask: 255.255.255.0

and that's all the settings that are typed in for LAN

    Client Computer

now on the client computer i have set the LAN TCP/IP to DHCP enabled

on both computers i have gone in to IE - Tools - Internet Options - Connections - LAN Settings and ticked Automatically detect settings

Firewalls on both computers are turned off

after all that i still can't access the internet on the client computer, however i can ping webpages and results come up.

really weird and i don't know what else to do.

    any help would be GREAT

    cheers

p.s. i thought networking was sposed to be easy

i have just been informed to untick that setting on both computers

however it still doesn't work...it seems strange that i can ping outside websites and get results but when i type the address in IE it just loads and loads..

i have found out that i can ftp - when i use an ftp address it works fine, so really the internet is working ... it just seems like anything with http:// infront of it - it won't connect properly

    weird!!!!

is there a setting i am missing???

    any help be great
