Upgrading by cannibalizing old pc
I've got an old 800MHZ P2 pc with W98 on it.
Someone has just given me an older 300Mhz P2 pc after buying a new one.
I'm going to use the RAM from one in the other one. But the older one has got XP, and I'd quite like to use that as well. My question is, if I take the HD out of the older XP machine and put it in the other machine in place of the current hard disk, will the hard disk work recognize and work with the newer machine components (processor, motherboard etc)?
I'm pretty ignorant of hard disk upgrading - it's only going to be used for children's games, and it's not that important to have XP, so if it will be a complicated thing to achieve I won't bother.
Any hints gratefully received!
