Does PHP 4 use the php.ini file if your running apache server by loading the module?

    hi there,

i'm a bit confused about setting up the PHP with apache. (windows xp pro)
i have followed the php.net instruction on setting up apache to use the php modules (lLoadModule php4_module "c:/php/php4apache.dll" ect).

i can then run basic php scrips.

but i'm getting loads of errors with more advanced stuff like using COM.

does anyone know the relationship of the php.ini file when your running apache server and using the module method instead of the cgi (php.exe)

the reason i ask is that when i make any change to the php.ini file when i'm running appache with php module, it doesn't relflect any changes.

i can for example i can add a line like this to the php.ini file
"extension=a load of baloni" and the server doesn't come up with any errors and still runs basic php file ok. (i'm stoping and restarting the apache service all the time as well.)

if i run php.exe it picks it up straight away.

    can anyone shed some light?

    thanks,

    jai

make a script with only phpinfo() in it and run it, then you can see where the ini file is that the php module uses

    thanks Daimaju,

That worked a treat. Now its picking up all the little mistakes i put in.

It was pointing to the c:\windows directory although i had created HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PHP\IniFilePath key with the path in the registry.

Its still defaulting to the windows directory, but thats ok.

    Thanks for your help.

    Jai
