Question Looking for a new project

    Hey Guys,

I'm after a little advice. Any auggestions will be appreciated, so thanks in advance. I also appologise if i'm posting this in the wrong place, as you can see i'm new to SitePoint

I'm basically wanting to start a new website project. I've been commited to the Internet for a number of years now, and have created and maintained a sports website for nearly 3 years. The website generates very good monthly revenue, and I am proud of what i have created. I've worked hard on the website, and have got a good daily fanbase.

Anyway, enough of the past. I'm looking to get involved in something new, and fresh. However, i'm stuck for ideas on what to create a website on. I would like to create a website on something I'm really interested into, as i beleive that is the key to having a sucessful website. I'm into sports, hence why I made a sports website.

I have also thought about creating a website dedicated to music. Mainly Pop, Rock and Hip-Hop, as that seems to be the favoured genres at the moment. However, I'm wanting to get involved in a more professional project, which could possibly be used on a future CV.

However, of course this requires a lot of knowledge, i'm guessing. I'm by no means a computer or programming wiz. I've mainly only worked with HTML, CGI and small amounts of PHP. So i'm well aware that this could limit my choices? I do like to learn though, so I would be happy getting involved in a project which I don't have the best knowledge on, as i am a good learner

Anyway, enough babbling. I know this topic is a long shot, as none of you know me, and my potential. However, any suggestions or ideas which i could possibly work on would be appreciated.

On the plus side, i will have a couple hundred Ģ's to invest into advertising space.
    Regards,

If you don't have any other hobbies you can do it on, you could always stick with the sports idea but take it further, maybe create a sports advertising network if you know lots of other sports site owners or something like that. Maybe you could create an online sports shop but you would probably need a quite a bit of money to get started.

Well, i define "Sports" as professional wrestling. Myself, as well as many others who specialise in running pro wrestling websites get alot of stick for it. However, the revenue we generate is very good

I had thought about an advertising network. However, someone who would target the same websites as i would has already tried it, and it didn't take off well, at all.

I'll continue thinking, and hopefully will get a vision!! Thanks for the replies guys

donīt try to create a commercial website. Ask yourself what you like and build a site around it. I believe you have answered to your own question already.
