    Ripping DVDs to Movie Files

I want to rip some of my DVDs to movie files. What's a good program to use? What format should I rip to - AVI, mpeg, etc.?

If you just want to rip them to your hard drive, I prefer to use DVD Decrypter and keep it in vob/ifo format. That way you won't lose any quality.

If you want to reduce its size, use DVD Shrink to remove the extra features or extra audio tracks. It can also recompress the movie to a lower bitrate. The loss in picture quality is usually not noticeable.

    DVD's

There are some free programs to do it, but the easiest one is probably DVD Cloner. It also has an option, where if the movie is too large to fit on one disk with different menus, extras and multi language soundtracks, it will strip away all the unnecessary stuff so that it will fit.

    DVD Shrink is awsome.
