    phpBB 2.2 Beta Date: January/February '05

See this announcement by psoTFX. For all of you waiting for the phpBB 2.2 beta, here it comes - followed by a release, obviously.

So, does anyone here plan to use 2.2? I know that I'll be upgrading my board ASAP for the style and user improvements plus all of the other great features that'll be included in the final release.

2.2 may put phpBB on top of... err... vBulletin in some regards - you may get nearly as much with phpBB 2.2 as you do with vBulletin, but for a couple hundred less. We'll have to watch & wait.

I'm definatly going to try it out, as now IPB costs and I don't have the money laying around to constantly buy vB licenses.

If you take a look at the roadmap (look around area51.phpbb.com), you'll see that lots of good things are coming in 2.2....

I plan on using it. The dramatic improvements should be very well worth the while.

ahhh man, this might make me consider not switching to vb. for the past few weeks I have been thinking long and hard about switching to vb. I guess one of the biggest things is the archive / search engine friendly option. I also thing vb might be fast, but not sure. now I think I might wait a few weeks and see what happens. It sucks being an undeceive person
