Is it possible to use PHP sessions if PHP is running in "CGI-Mode"?

I have an account with NetNation, and would like to use PHP session management for user authentification.. but they tell me this isn't possible because PHP is running as a CGI.

    Thanks.

Session functions work in CGI mode , I use them on windows for dev work with PHP as a CGI.

I suspect that your host just does not want to run them for ? whatever ? reason.
