Serif and Sans-Serif fonts

I have two questions to make but I forget one of them.

So this post is only one doubt.

I've to admit that I work with fonts but I don't know the indispensable.

I don't know the differences between : Serif fonts and Sans-Serif fonts.

Where can I find some information about this?

Twiddly bits on the font - Serif (Georga, Times New Roman, Garamond)

No Twiddly bits -San Serif (Tahoma, Arial, Gill Sans)

A twiddly bit is called a serif, helps the eyes 'flow' across the line of text.

Sorry, but you have to explain what it's the meaning of Twiddly . I look for it on the dictionary but I didn't find it.

This is a font with twiddly bits see the changes at the tips of all the letters, these are serifs.

This is a font with no twiddly bits notice that it is without (sans) serifs

To turn Sowen's posts into something more.. ah... understandable... Serif fonts are caligraphic... they have small decorative strokes added to them.

For instance, Times New Roman is a serif font.

Sans serif are fonts that are geometric and do not contain these decoractive strokes, like Verdana, Tahoma and Arial. Sans means without, thus San Serif = Without a Serifs
