    Problem installing Apache

I am running Fedora Core 2, and making a server, I am reading the book: Build Your Own Database Driven Website Using PHP & MySQL

The instructions for building apache are pretty simple, but at this step:

+ doing sanity check on compiler and options
** A test compilation with your Makefile configuration
** failed. The below error output from the compilation
** test will give you an idea what is failing. Note that
** Apache requires an ANSI C Compiler, such as gcc.

======== Error Output for sanity check ========
    cd ..; gcc -DLINUX=22 -DUSE_HSREGEX -DUSE_EXPAT -I./lib/expat-lite './apaci'
    -o helpers/dummy helpers/dummy.c -lm
============ End of Error Report ============

    Aborting!
I know for a fact that I have gcc compilers installed (infact all of them I could find on the Fedora Core cd (#2)...

Any idea of how I could correct this error?

    Thanks much,
    Jabird
