Here in the dirty south (Jackson, MS) it's about the same. I've seen it as cheap as $1.60 and as expensive as $1.85. Ah yes...I recall the good ole' days when I could get gas for 75 cents per gallon...good times my friend...good times.

In the uk its between 89p and 93p for a litre of petrol....you dont even want to convert that! LOL

Philadelphia: $1.90/gallon for regular.
It's about the same price in the Miami area (I was there this weekend). I need to cross into New Jersey for some cheaper gas

I pay right at about $2 for premium in TN. I get good mileage on both cars (the Jetta gets about 25-26 mpg and the Mini Cooper gets 27-30 mpg) and my wife and I both work within 10 miles of home, so our gas bills aren't too terribly bad.

I suppose we have much shorter roads in England, albeit that they curve all over the place, hardly ever going in a straight line. No wonder we don't have enough money to pay for good dental work, with petrol prices that high!

Gas is cheaper in NJ? Even after you tip the attendant who must pump your gas for you?Originally Posted by vgarcia

Is that right, they 'HAVE' to pump your gas?
Yes. For some reason it's still like 20-25 cents per gallon less than in PhiladelphiaOriginally Posted by DaveMichaels

Yes, it's state law. It also breeds generations of people who don't know how gas pumps operateOriginally Posted by mark_w

Yep, by law. There and Oregon. It's mostly a jobs program, but it also all but eliminates accidents and drive-offs.
You'd have to be pretty crazy to attempt a driveoff after someone pumped your gas for you. Interesting law. Gas in Missouri is about $1.67 or so.
Sorry for keeping at this, but does that mean that you can't pump your own gas even if you wanted to ? And is it also part of the law to tip em too ?Yes, it's state law. It also breeds generations of people who don't know how gas pumps operate .

I doubt its the law to tip them....... I could be wrong though! :/

1.72511 x 3.7854118 = USD 6.53 per gallon in the UK - anyone care to check my maths?

Whoops, yeah, forgot the CA->US conversion. Comes out to US $2.32/gallon. Probably cheaper than in California.
I paid 1.72 this morning in the Eastern PA area
Currently in Queensland Australia we are paying between 80c-90c per litre. Was around the dollar a litre mark a couple of weeks ago.
How is that compared to US prices?
ack, conversions again...by 80c you mean 80 cents right ? lets hope so. Ok so anyway
1 US gallon = 3.7854118 litres
so 3.7854118 * 80 cents = $3.02 USD
and 3.7854118 * 90 cents = $3.40 USD
if im right, gas is expensive in austrailia as well

As my VW Passat requires premium, I have purchased it as low as $1.93 in Wisconsin, and even around Chicago it is "down" to $2.09!
Ah, for the love of public transportation...
