Just wondering, if you get a credit card refund does the money get taken away from the company?
For example, if you pay some DVD site $100, then discover its a con, get the $100 back from your credit card, does that DVD site lose the $100? Or is it too late if they pull the money out?
Speaking of DVD pirating, apparently according to the MX this guy recently got captured shipping a huge amount of DVDs between China and Taiwan. Now they can't figure out which country should prosecute him, since he's used fake papers for both countries and refuses to admit where he's from!

The credit card company take on the responsibility of recovering the debt. So if they can find them, they'll get their money back. In this case my CC company probably went after eSeaScale who are a European company. Then eSeaScale would probably pay up or they'd be hard pushed to continue to take CC payments - the banks would revoke their online trading rights. That leaves eSeaScale to try and get the money back from our dodgy Malaysian friend. Which I doubt they'll manage without flying to KL with a couple of heavies! Mind you, the guy is dumb enough to have left his home address in the whois record for his website, so he's fairly easy to track. What an idiot!
