    If that happens, expect lots of sites to turn subscription-based, and even more sites to keep visitors using these from viewing the sites.
    Naah, that won't happen. I know I only recently registered, but I've been lurking for a while. Sure, what you said gets predicted whenever a mainstream program gains a pop-up or ad blocker, but it never pans out.

    I think I covered that in the prediction I made: Webmasters will complain (and in your comment, threaten with subscriptions and blockers), but it'll fall on deaf ears.

    Oh, and another prediction:

    9) Despite assertions by Bungie, Halo 3'll be at least announced in 2005.
    I've twice been pop-uped,

    Never again shall they pop,
    And pity those it makes poor.

    Actually, the meltdown will be because everybody realizes that blogging is just a bunch of hype. They'll realize that blogs really aren't that different from other forms of communication, and take a lot of work (just like anything else). Most people and hypesters will move on to the next "Big Thing".

    Video on Demand
    On-demand Television and movies may become even more mainstream, with primetime shows available on-demand. (definitely the next step from timeshifting).

    In 2005,

    - There will be some great scientific discoveries;
    - We will see some more effects of global warming;
    - Some presidents will make major mischiefs;
    - There will be a new ridiculous toy that almost every average children will have;
    - Some are gonna get very rich;
    - And some are gonna get very poor;
    - Someone will spill a cup of coffee in january

    Well, it will be just an average year like the others, it's what we each live personnaly that makes a difference.

    1) UK Government expenditure on paper shredders will go up; Freedom of Information Act scheduled for January 1st 2005.

    2) Dates written as 2004 will go unnoticed.

    3) Nintendo do a full circle, and go back to manufacturing trading cards. It's what the gamers really want they tell us. Not that makes a difference to European gamers, who will have to wait until 2006 until the cards are "snipped" into PAL format.

    4) Some annoying people will try and pronounce it as twenty-oh-five.

    5) Linux replaces Windows, open source hackers become celebrities, Microsoft call it quits and instead just brand Firefox, and hell freezes over.

    The death of useless portable devices. PDA's, Blackberries, etc. They are lame and useless. Cell phones will sell alot less, as people are finding out how annoying they are.

    International terrorism is going to get a higher profile and a lot more prominant in peoples mind after another attack on the same scale as 9/11 - though proberly not against the US, more likely somewhere in Europe.
