    Avg 7.0

For those using AVG as their antivirus, you may or may not heard that the 6.0 version will be discontinued on January 2005.

It is recommended that you upgrade to the 7.0 version if you haven't done so yet, since it has been highly improved over the 6.0 version.

Thanks. I'm downloading as I write. Have you installed the new version and did it go smoothly?

Yes, I installed it. But I suggest you uninstall the 6.0 version first, and then install the 7.0 version. I had problems when I tried to install the 7.0 over the 6.0. My computer entered in a loop and started to reboot time after time.

It popped up a message to upgrade upon running an update. I asked it to remind me in 5 days. I'll probably update it then.

Thanks for the heads up. Everything went smoothly - after the hour download at 28k that is. I noticed that during installation, uninstalling was recommended but instructions for installing over AVG 6 were also given. Go figure.

I don't understand what do you mean. Could you rephrase the question?

when I did a scan of my hard drive it clearly found a couple of virus's. These showed up at the end of the test in a list format. My only 2 options at the bottom of the page were BACK or DETAILS. There didn't appear to be a way for me to move these virus's to the virus chest/vault and get rid of them. Once AVG has found the virus's how do I get rid of them?

    any thoughts?

    thanks

Ok, after the test is over, right click on the list and choose: Filter list by result type > Display viruses only. This will only show you the infected files and it will ignore anything else. Then, select all of the files by holding the left click and once selected, right click again. You should see any of these options: Heal the file, Move file to virus vault and Delete the file.

You can also treat each file individually by right clicking directly on one file.

    thanks .

that got me to the point of asking for the virus to be healed or moved . It doesn't matter what action I ask for i get the same answer.
"REQUESTED ACTION IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR NONE OF THE SELECTED OBJECTS". Any thoughts?

There have been some issues with AVG7. I suggest you go to their free forum at http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/index.php?0 After reading a number of threads there, you might consider doing a 'repair' or even a reinstall. BTW, there is an update available today that addresses many of the issues.

It took me a while to figure out how to register. Go to Information > Register Online in the Control Center. You can't register directly from the forum.
