    Question PHP inqueries

    Dear Gurus and members,
I am new in PHP. In fact, I know nothing about it. I just wonder if PHP will be able to create a small application that records, playback and save user's recorded audio. In addition, can it create a waveform of the recorded audio/speech? I have created one application that does the same using VB6. However, VB is not cross-platform. Therefore, I am searching for an alternative programming language that can do the similar functions.
Is PHP server-side or client-side scripting language? What does it usually used for? Sorry for asking silly questions, but I need to know this in order to continue my project. Any ideas and suggestions are highly appreciated. Look forward to some replies soon and have a pleasant day.

    Thanks in advance,
    Janice

    Hi Janice,

PHP is more of a server-side language really (although you can write basic client-side apps with it). Sounds like you may want to look at Java, or possibly mono, if you want a cross-platform app.
