In the seventh class I had to learn Latin. I was the worst in my class and had to repeat it. Then I had French for three years. I was really bad again. I didnīt speak it too. That was very interesting when I stayed with a family for a short exchange of students in France. The only word I knew was magnetophon.

I am learning english on a daily basis (watching movies, foruming, blogging).
The web is a great tool to learn new languages as you can easily communicate with people speaking the language in question.
I do speak a bit of german as well.
I also know latin (reading Ovide and Virgile in latin is just amazing)
I think that if English is the language of International air traffic control, it's good enough for this medium; also, 40% of the world speaks English. As a test, I'd suggest starting several identical posts in different languages, including English, to see how far they get, and how many contributors there are. I'd really like to see the results of that "poll".
Hmmm... You can easily communicate over the net. I like to read English articles and posts on weblogs or forums. But itīs a little bit different to talk to English speaking people in real life. Problem is slang and everyday speech and fast talking.Originally Posted by duuudie
On the net you have time to read and translate for yourself. But not in a real discussion.
But English people realise very quickly you are not English.
Hope I made sence.

I'm native in English with a Floridian accent (if there is one). I can read and write Spanish okay (the basics, and use cognates) but speak only phrases.

My first language is Romanian, but when I'm in front of my computer I'm used to see everything in English and use it. It would be weird to change everything now and have them all in Romanian. I would be confused for a while.
I also know some French and I can understand a bit of Italian and Spanish (and I mean just a little bit; these people speak so fast)
