    Internet Explorer Help Please

    Hi,

Wonder if anyone can help solve the following problem:

In IE 6 I used to be able to just type www.google.com and away it would go.

Now i have to put the Http:// bit in front or I get a "page not found" fault.

Hardly a show stopper but annoying all the same....

    Any help greatly appreciated.

Running Win XP (SP2) IE6 and connect via a speedtouch 510 router.

Before anyone asks no I haven't figured how to open lots of ports on the 510 either!!

    Thanks

Have you tried running a scan for spyware/viruses and the like yet? I've got SP2 installed, and although not my default browser IE6 will still accept www.google.com as a valid url.

Just for reference if necessary, apologies if it isn't, a good free spyware scanner is Spybot - Search & Destroy.

    Thanks Chip

Spybot didn't get it, but Ad-aware did.

Now what can i actually use this PC for other than trying to stop viruses and make it go a millisecond faster!!

Im beginning to realise thats sound advice.

That and to make every pc user in the world have to run a firewall and anti-virus software.
