Question about Pear??

I installed Pear at one computer locally with the help of this sitepoint article http://www.sitepoint.com/article/get...ed-with-pear/2. then i wanted to use it on other computer and i just copied the file. but it din't work and i had to install it again to use it on other computer (and i am still struggling to use it).

Do i always have to do this to use Pear. if i get a host that won't allow me to use shell then what. can somebody please help me with this concern.

I tried installing Pear on windows 98 but getting errors. so, is there anything else that i can use for datbase abstraction.

You can just download the individual PEAR packages and install them manually. Make sure you check the dependencies listed in the documentation and that you have also downloaded and installed those packages as well.
