I was just wondering if any1 has ever used a JS archive file. These have .jar file extension and contain zip-compressed .js files.

I was wondering how the decompression was handled. Is it automatic by the browser? Is it more efficient than having all JS files independently specified in the header.

The reason I'm asking this is that I want to cut down on the server load. Too many files means too much strain on the server, because even although the JS files only get downloaded once, the first time it happens all the extra files have to be fetched on at a time.
