    CSS / XHTML noob headache :(

    ok, i do PHP script. Infact, im a good coder. Ive beem doing web design for a while, but i keep puttin off reall CSS and XHTML.

    It all sounds good, but it gives me a headache.

    look at this site http://www.infinitywebdesign.com/

    not bad i say, but i looked at the page source, and theres no table marking or anything?!Q??

    So, how the hell is it done?

    Could anyone show me a good place to start learnign css with xhtml properly?

    also this inspired me, but was no help www.csszengarden.com

    That kind of design is called tableless design. It uses DIV's instead of tables for the layout. There's quite a few ways to go about doing this actually. Start with the CSS FAQ in this forum as it contains some good info about doing that.

    hmmm, tooo much info all at once, plus i have no idea what there on about. The only css i normally use is the standard for defining text/link colours/sizes/fints etc.

    So none of this makes much sense to me is there a good xhtml/css tutorial anywhere? That teachs from the basics upwards?

    HTML Utopia: Designing Without Tables Using CSS

    It has a great layout example that shows how a typical 3-column site is laid out.

    CSS is a little more complicated than tables to start with and its good to understand the basics before you get too involved.

    Just have a look at the demos on this site and read through the css forums and you will begin to get a grasp on its strengths (and weaknesses).
