    What are they using

    I am interested in doing something similar to this site in PHP.

    No. They use .dlls in that tool. see the url. (Long back, they used servlets I guess)

    I guess he asked WHAT THEY used for that tool. Of course, PHP+GD rules.

    precisionweb, for google, you can use Google API to get the information you want. For other engines,(because there are no APIs) you may need to 'rip off' the number-of-links section from the search results page using any server side scripting like PHP.
