We sitepointers are always willing the help, even noobs like myself.

Also, i would suggest reformatting your Email address in your post Shelly, as Spam bots scour forums such as this looking for email addresses. Change it to name (at) domain (dot) com or something.

    Shelly,
I think mixDev wasn't 'asking' the question why should he register, he was saying 'as a surfer, why should I come to your site? what is appealing about it?'

He meant it as a theoretical question!

Maybe since the homepage is not working it might be a big drawback. Also having a link or a mini post of the latest chat on the homepage might help.

i have a suggestion for you. One of the biggest mistakes i've seen is where website developers go overboard with the chat rooms/forums/etc. You have 15 or so chatrooms, all with very specific subjects, (tho honestly hardly any of them are clear). When a website is just starting out, it needs to have a very small amount of chatrooms or forums. My brother and i started a website with a messageboard a few years ago with only 2 or 3 forums. Now it's got around 12 but they're all very popular because we only opened new ones by overwhelming request. Our website has turned out to be pretty successful, but here's another example of a failed attempt. I listen to an internet radio station alot, and i went to visit their website one time. In their messageboard they have a forum for individual band names, around 17 forums total, 10 of them with under 100 posts (some with 0). You have to be more general at the start, then branch out when there is desire for it.
