    kycomehome,

This is the simplest way I know of to get PHP, MySQL and Apache running and configured on a windows machine.

Go here, download the software, uninstall any old PHP, Apache or MySQL installations and run the installer you just downloaded.

    hi,
i also had similar trouble my first time thru the sample chapters. The source of your problem may be in the php.ini file (see page 7). I'd recommend starting from scratch, and following the instructions very carefully. I had it all running smoothly on my second attempt. Btw, I loved those sample chapters - they are so easy to follow and understand for a total beginner. I can't wait to get the book!
