dropdown with a textfield included, possible?

Hi everyone,

this is the problem:
- people can select something from a dropdown-menu. In most cases there's a line added "other..." in case the user doesn't find in the list the thing he want's to choose. like for example:
Things you like to do for leisure: (dropdown with) sports, reading, computing, going out, other...

now as an admin for me it's interesting to know what the user means by "other". I thought of adding a text field next to the dropdown where the user can then fill in what he/she means by "other..." (the easy way)

but what I thought would be cool is this:
having the textfield instead of "other... " so included in the dropdown.

Does anyone have an idea how to achieve this, if possible?

i'm no expert but i believe it's quite impossible to do what you want. I havent tried it myself, but it is almost impossible to change anything within a drop down menu except through CSS styles.

Also i've never seen anything like that in any online (or offline) forms.
