    Hi there,

if I send an email in HTML format is there a chance that the end recipient may not be able to view/process the html - do email clients have options to "turn off" html - do some not read it in the first place?

How would the email be viewed in this instance?

    thanks for any help

There are some mail clients that do not recognize HTML e-mails and there are probably others that allow you to dissable the option. In either case, it will probably just spit out the raw code to the reader.

You should give users the option to receive a text version of your maillings even if most want the HTML version. (Unless the percentage of those that request a text-only version is so incredibly small that you can ignore them.)

Most older email clients will not have HTML as their default.

I design for a company which does HTML email.

Trying to keep track of all the various email readers available is not as easy as it seems..

Every web-based account will be able to read it of course..but most disable javascript.

    And..

And...your HTML may be displayed as source code if you send to a client who does not have HTML enabled, or does not support it.

    PS And..

    And..

Most email clients will "frag" your javascripts, rollovers, active x, body, bg, etc.etc et al ad infinitum..
