    i wanted to know how to make simple mouseovers with dreamweaver. I mean no swap image , just change the color of the text when mouse overed. Like http://www.firstlook.com , for exemple. I tried CSS styles, but the problem is that the A:Hover apply for ALL the links of the page. I want different mouse overs effects. cause at the left hand side of my site, the background is black, whereas the main part (middle) the background is white, so it's completely different background, thus different mouse overs. I dunno if u understood.
    for exemple at firstlook
    at thr left hand side, there many mouse overs, effect , from orange to white,
    and just below,
    there's the contest's part, where it changes from white to red!,

    exactly same thing for me!,
    different mouse overs colors on different text, not the WHOLE page, like for CSS!

    It is done with CSS, just not the way you're doing it. This tread started a while ago should help you. Read my first post in that thread.

    The alternaive is to use gif based rollovers, where the gifs consist of text and transparency (or white).

    I have seen this use quite a few times, but it's a bit of a hefalump, go with the css option

    <style><!--a:hover{color:#3366FF; text-decoration:underline; }--></style>

    I mean each link with a style?, (for different mouse overs on 1 page)
    how could this be done?

    oh yes, creole's post was quite good for me, but it's not well explain, it just gave me an idea.

    me me me...

    like this:
    <b> Brian: Where to plave this?, in the head section ?
    where are the tags <style>,
    must i put exactly the same thing, the /* normal style.... ????? </b>

    /* normal style */
    a:link { text-decoration: none; }
    a:visited { text-decoration: none; }
    a:hover { text-decoration: underline; }
    a:active { text-decoration: none; }

    /* second style */
    a.second:link { text-decoration: none; }
    a.second:visited { text-decoration: none; }
    a.second:hover { text-decoration: underline; }
    a.second:active { text-decoration: none; }

    All links on your page will default to the first style unless another is applied like so:

    <a href="42" class="second">some text</a>

    get it?

    koolbrian!
    you don't know the basics of css!!! pleAsE go to:
    http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS1
    and read the basics!

    start from the basics please! thank you *phew*

    just to state from your post koolbrian,
    all css code must reside within the:

    <style type="text/css">
    /* all your css codes */
    </style>

    or an external css file, which can be linked in several ways. check the link i gave you above.

    /* and */ are comment quotes!
    just like # is for perl, // is for php and many more.

    commnt quotes are where you may add text to allow you to read and understadn your coding in times to come. or it may just be a way to direct instructions...it has multiple purposes....and its all up the the coder as he's the one thats reading it.

    got it so far?

    hey don't worry. I will tell you something. I HATE, HATE, HATE tutorials,cause i don't really understand. Here, my main language is french, and.......... there's no really good tutorials in french!. 90% of the web is english!, WHY ?

    Hey,
    don't worry about the CSS style, with practice, i'v arrived of creating many CSS styles, with coding!. Only practice, tried, tried, tried, and tried.............
    I must admit that coding it yourself is MUCH quicker than using an editor. But it's quite difficult though

    Thanx to creole, he help me a bit!

    Hey Brian - I don't speak French but let me guess that you just said:

    "Dominique, you speak French? Have you been to France?"

    How close was I (if at all)?

    <edit>
    Damn, I just looked it up "Are you from France?" Is that right?
