I like having a support forum from companies who sell software. Make is easy for your customers to find answers on how to use your product, and they're more likely to upgrade if you release a new version, or even a new product. They're also more likely to recommend your product to a friend.

When you have a forum, you're not the only one who has to answer questions either. Get your customers involved in the forum, and they'll help other people there, too.

What a brilliant way to gauge your customers opinion of your services and products. Plus it's a very good way to draw visitors to your website.

I'm just building a website for a company in the UK that give singing tuition and workshops. I've suggested that they have a forum after the website has been up a few months. It will be a great place for people interested in singing to discuss all the ins and outs of singing, the techniques involved and where to find music and books etc etc. After that goes live I've suggested that the company put together some literature and recordings they can then sell on their site. They will be able to instantly recognise what kind of literature will sell best of all on their site, because their visitors at the forums are openly discussing their likes, dislikes and needs
